Hi all, I know this issue has been discussed before (there is a thread about it in the April 2002 archive of the mailing list), but I am still having the same problem.
I have an Ultra2 server running Suse 7.3. The Ultra2 has 3 HME cards, 1 on-board and 2 ESP-HME cards. The server is used as an internet gateway for my home network. Everytime the HME card connected to the Internet is put under a bit of load, it pukes out the following messages: Feb 22 12:05:18 mckinley kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out Feb 22 12:05:18 mckinley kernel: eth0: transmit timed out, resetting Feb 22 12:05:18 mckinley kernel: eth0: Happy Status 03030000 TX[000003ff:00000301] Feb 22 12:05:22 mckinley kernel: eth0: Link is up using internal transceiver at 10Mb/s, Half Duplex. Once one of these messages has been puked, the only way to get the connection back is to reboot the server. Originally, I was running the kernel provided with Suse 7.3, i.e 2.4.14. Because that version is quite old, I thought about using a more recent kernel, so I went for 2.4.20 without much luck. I was still having the same problems. Then I read the messages on this mailing list that said that 2.4.19-pre4 fixed the problem. Unfortunately, 2.4.19-pre4 can't be downloaded anymore, so I chose to go with 2.4.19 and this morning after 12 hours without any problem, here came the same message. My question is that, although lots of people out there seem to have the same issue, has anybody actually found a solution to this problem? I am not a kernel hacker and my programming skills are not up to the task of debugging this issue, so I will have to rely on someone else having fixed this problem. Thank you very much in advance for the replies and for the help, Bertrand. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
