Well, there are still some quirks (most of them spinlocks, it seems) in 2.4 kernels on sparc32/smp. But I have at three SS10/20-SMP boxes (dual SM61, SM71, SM81) that regularly reach uptimes over 100 days: 10:16pm up 101 days, 10:38, 1 user, load average: 0.20, 0.17, 0.11 Linux dpa2.computerbild.de 2.4.20-2.31sparc #1 Wed Sep 24 18:10:45 EDT 2003 sparc unknown cpu : Texas Instruments, Inc. - SuperSparc-(II) fpu : SuperSparc on-chip FPU promlib : Version 3 Revision 2 prom : 2.12 type : sun4m ncpus probed : 1 ncpus active : 1 BogoMips : 59.80 MMU type : TI Viking/MXCC contexts : 65536 nocache total : 2097152 nocache used : 513280 That's with Aurora 1.0 from http://auroralinux.org and a modest load.
