A friend of mine papered the whole house -- he said you first get them used to going on paper. Then he papered half the house and sure enough the dog used the papered half and finally he was down to just putting one news paper on the floor every morning. One day he forgot to put the paper down though and the dog threw his back out trying to use a postage stamp that was in the corner. ;)

There was a kit available to train your cat and I understand that it is back on the market, available at Petco in the US. I think it would be easy to train a dog to use the European 'squatter' style 'toilet'. Anyone from over there heard of such a thing?
