<x-charset ISO-8859-1>methane from bio sources - waste treatment etc - often has hydrogen sulfide in it, which is corrosive. I think this is where you go tconfused. methane itself is odorless, colorless, and non-corrosive. The 'gas smell' is added for safety reasons. Same with propane.
