    In truth, most of the truck is a Mazda.  I think the only Ford 
component is the engine.  Your Mercedes may likely outlive my Ranger, 
but I won't know that because I need something bigger when transporting 
my boys to school.  Their legs are getting long now, and we're quite 
squished sitting three across in my two seat truck.

    I've been tempted to build one of these:

    This machine can be made from any GM "B Body" vehicle from the early 
to mid 1980's.  A 5.7 liter diesel would be a bolt in, and with 700 
pounds less weight, it would likely be economical too!  However, I don't 
think my long-suffering wife will tolerate such a project. . .

    I've been following that page for some time.  I like his ideas.  In 
my neighborhood, however, a generator would likely be too noisy and 
people would complain.  (My neighbors already think I'm crazy.  I 
wouldn't want to validate their views any further!)
