Thanks for the response. I feel that I may not have explained that there isn't a layer it's almost a solid mass. It is about 95 deg f outside and if I turn the soda bottle on its side it slides inside the bottle as one lump retaining the shape of the bottom of the bottle. If I shake it hard it does brake up somewhat. Kind of like when the old super ball was broken. I feel that I now have super glop.

This is the same thing that is done with the glyc cocktail to recover the free fatty acids.
