It's not Dolittle, or bombers that I know of, but I do know that Charles A. Lindbergh, taught P-38 pilots how to get the best of the long range capabilities of the P-38's in the pacific during the war.
I find it interesting, and to the best of my knowledge, fuel economy is a concern of the list.
