We end up with them up all the time on some windows such as the bedroom where we don't really need daylight. As winter gets on and there's less light anyway's your not cutting out much.
They do make a huge difference especial if combined with plastic, We just did the bedroom yesterday, Plastic outside, window fabric inside. WOW instant warmth.
An easy way to improve the window insulation and when done as roman blinds you can keep the window.
