I've been so impressed by this list, I thought I'd ask a Mercedes-specific
question even before I try an MB site:

Any of you fine folk know how to retard the injection timing on a 1976
300D (115 114 chassis, OM 617 engine)?

It runs fine on 25-30% diesel or biodiesel and 75-70% wvo, but it smokes a
bit more than I'd like (whitish, but particulate-heavy, as far as I can
tell). I've fiddled with the altitude compensator on the IP, but that just
makes it stall.

Any suggstions greatly appreciated!

Kenji Fuse

PS. The Haynes manual I have has a listing for the 'timing device' in the
IP, but there is actually no info there...
