testing: leave trailing white spaces alone until after 3.24
This is too big a stick. The problem with stripping white space
from all output unconditionally is that it hides bugs (anoying
but real) in what pluto displays.
Against this are tools we rely on (for instance 'ip'), but for that
we're better of stripping their output as needed.
This reverts commit ad71ffa4f435834db7e35f83c8c3a0f8fdac82c9.
