connections: replace connection_discard() with
connection_delete_unused_instance()
Merge in update_state_connection()'s code skipping connections being
revived, and adding a whackfd (only add the whackfd when the
connection really is being deleted).
Add pexpects() to delete_pending()'s call. Should the pending whackfd
be passed in?
