I'm not sure how many of us use automatic sniping services, but I saw the following planned new feature for the new version of esnipe that I thought people would be interested in:
Bid groups Perhaps the second-most requested new feature is bid groups, which allow you to purchase just one item out of a group you create, and then cancel all the other auctions automatically. It's best for buying commodity items that appear often on eBay. For example, suppose you're interested in an Apple iMac 800. There are a couple of dozen available on eBay as this is written. You'd create a bid group called "Imac", then enter the item numbers for all those that match your criteria (among those two dozen there's considerable variation as far as accessories and other options that could affect the price, so you probably wouldn't choose them all). As soon as eSnipe wins one of the iMacs from your bid group, the other eSnipe bids are canceled automatically. Along with the normal fee for winning, each item in a bid group will cost 10 BidPoints. So if you have 4 items in a bid group, and the winning item costs $200, the cost will be 240 BidPoints. If no item wins, the cost will still be 40 BidPoints. You'll now get a bit of extra organization along with bid groups. Bid groups will be placed in folders, one per bid group. Expired bids will go into an Archive folder. This will neaten up your My Bids area and will also speed up web page performance for those with a long list of expired bids. Personally, I think this is awesome. It guarantees you the best price for something without having to fudge out of bids for items you don't want. -- Jim Leonard ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://www.oldskool.org/ Want to help an ambitious games project?
