Josh,

Your app obviously uses Swing components, but the VMs that are shipped with
IA installers are 1.1.8 VMs by default. You can easily switch the VM that
gets bundled by your installer by modifying one of IA's properties file.
Look in IA's manual for "Replacing the VM that gets installed with your
software".

I hope this thread isn't getting too off-topic....

Have you used this product much, Jeff? I just downloaded it and it's great,
but I'm having a problem. When I create an installer withoout the JVM, it
works great, but when I include the JVM, I get the following error:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/JOptionPane
at Cinco.<init>(Compiled Code)
at Cinco.main(Cinco.java:40)
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.launch([DashoPro-V1.2-120198])
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main([DashoPro-V1.2-120198])

I'd like to include the JVM in the installation. Some of my users are
getting weird behaviour that I can't replicate, so I assume it must be their
JVM. I'd like the installer to include the JVM I have on my machine. Thanks!

You should check out InstallAnywhere. It creates executables for Windows,
Mac, and Unix. It also automatically sets the classpath, finds VMs on the
target system, or even installs a VM if you wish. "InstallAnywhere Now!" is
a free version which you can download from:

David,

Yes there is, but you have to use a rather unfriendly (but free) tool in
Microsoft's Software Developer's Kit. The tool is called jexegen.exe. You
don't need to recompile your code with Microsoft's compiler to use it.

It works well when all your class files are in the same directory; however I
have not been able to get it to work on multiple classpaths. If you (or
anyone else) is successful at this, please send me an example.

Here is the URL: http://www.microsoft.com/java/sdk/40/default.htm
