"I do not consider myself an audio purist, but I have noticed an audio quality
difference between WEEI 850 and WBOQ 104.9 when broadcasting Red Sox games."

I would expect WBOQ-FM to have superb audio. For those of us Mass North
Shore/Merrimack Valley - NH Seacoast types, we remember WBOQ's roots as a
one-man operation classical station = WVCA-FM. It had limited advertising,
low power, and carried a lot of old, perhaps public domain music. And,
frequent appeals for donations toward the end. Online searches state he ran
it at 800w monaural.

When the owner, Simon Geller, sold the station, it remained classical - with
a new transmitter and power boost, and WBOQ fashioned itself as W-Bach. Then
it became a smooth jazz station, then finally settled in as an oldies station.
It carries the Red Sox, because WEEI-850 apparently has some areas in this
corner of Massachusetts, so they're also on 104.9.
