Most of this stuff went years ago. And what with Auntie's rolling upgrade process they were probably able to move departments one at a time into the new space at New Bush House.

However, the BBC and many other large broadcasters are all moving to Television City in Manchester. It's a purpose built facility with HD studios and combined office space. With greater emphasis being placed on contracted programming (radio and TV) large facilities are no longer necessary. TV City will pool the resources of all the broadcasters in an effort to cut costs.

As Granada is now the biggest UK broadcaster owning the most regional independant stations they were able to persuade their investors that TV City was the right way to go. It is turning out to be everything they had hoped.

Perhaps this could be a topic at the Fest next year?

I wonder how BBC liquidated all the old equipment in Bush House
(shortwave receivers, antennas, multicouplers, recording gear, entire
studios, etc) that they decided to modernize/upgrade and buy anew in
lieu of uninstalling and moving it? That woulda be one heluva yard sale!
