Traffic Light Experiment Puerto Vallarta has been chosen to test a new concept in traffic lights. The National Traffic Safety Institute of Mexico (Instituto Nacional Transito Seguro de Mexico) announced that all of the traffic lights in Puerto Vallarta will be changed as part of a three month study designed to improve traffic safety and reduce traffic accidents at intersections. A spokesman for INTSdeM says that medical surveys show that as many as 25% of the male population are afflicted with red/green color blindness, a hereditary condition. It has been theorized that this is a significant cause of men running red lights at intersections. In this experiment, all the traffic lights in town will be changed from red and green to purple and pink. The yellow (caution) lights will remain. Green lights will be replaced with shocking pink lights, and the red lights will be replaced with passionate purple lights. Starting next week, drivers will have to stop for passionate purple traffic lights and can proceed on shocking pink lights. The INTSdeM spokesman said that if the purple lights reduce number of vehicles going thru intersections, the change will be instituted throughout the country within the next year. Traffic officials in USA and Canada are watching this trial and will recommend similar changes if the results are positive. _______________________________________________ Swlfest mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/swlfest To unsubscribe: Send an E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], or visit the URL shown above.
