Indonesia Sharia Expo 2007- Jakarta Convention Center, October 24-28, 2007
Sharia business has shown its presence for fifteen years in Indonesia. Its heart is bearing in sharia banking, pumping sharia energy to various economy and business sectors. Then, after Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) was established in 1992, which also officially signified the birth of sharia economy system in Indonesia, sharia financial institutions started to grow, such as insurance, mortgage, and sharia multi finance. In the business sector, hotels, franchises, hospitals, beauty care, and house complexes made their existence in sharia or Islamic system. This progress, aside from being beneficial for ummah, also brings merit to life, by carrying a just economy system which provides benefits, materially and spiritually. It is a pity that such economy system that is beneficial for our life and the after life is not understood by most ummah, merely because lack of campaign and communication to the public. Public Campaign about Sharia Economy With the subject in mind, the Indonesia Ulama Council (MUI) and Sharia Economy Society (MES) conducted a campaign which has been their routine program: INDONESIA SHARIA EXPO (ISE) 2007. Currently ISE carries the theme : sharia business and entrepreneurship spirit. Through the IS, we expect to explain sharia economy products, such as: sharia banking, sharia insurance, sharia pawn shop, sharia leasing, sharia mutual fund, sharia stock market, sharia economy institution, Islamic book publisher, hajj and umrah services, sharia management consultant, halal products, and a variety of real sector which are beneficial for ummah. This activity will be filled with various activities, such as: exposition, investor forum, seminar and talkshow, entrepreneurship program, business contact, edutainment, spiritainment, a variety of competitions, and many other activities. The first ISE was held in year 2006. It became a starting momentum for development of sharia economy in Indonesia. It presented products and service from sharia financial institutions. The people were guided to utilize the sharia products and services for easy application in everyday life. Now, the second ISE will be enriched by two other events, which are the International Investor Forum and Islamic Book Festival. This exposition will be held at JCC on October 24 28, 2007. Covering more sectors and occupying more space than before, the ISE 2007 will cover various sharia activity and business sectors, not limited to financial sector alone, but also the real sector.
