Ok, makes sense. What about Jordi's proposal then? Let's merge PRs in
the future, then Nils' maintenance concerns are addressed and PRs are
closed automatically.

Which means that we never rebase, and always merge. Sounds good to me.

Maybe Nils can also write up a few tips about dealing with this
development process (useful Git commands/options, best practice
debugging etc.)
