Since so many of you mentioned REST and I also saw quite some interest for
this after my talk at the Symfony Live last month (slides: *
http://slidesha.re/12y9z8C* <http://slidesha.re/12y9z8C>) I thought I set
up a W3C community group to involve more people in the development of the
approach I'm following. I'm using JSON-LD (an upcoming W3C standard) as
serialization format and a vocabulary I called Hydra to make
self-descriptive, hypermedia-driven Web APIs a reality.

There exists already a bundle to integrate it in Symfony2 and a generic API
console. You can find more information about that on my homepage: *
http://www.markus-lanthaler.com/hydra/*<http://www.markus-lanthaler.com/hydra/>

The code is still very rough and more a POC than production code but I
think it already shows the direction in which I would like to see this to
go. So, if you are interested in helping to advance this stuff, please join
the W3C community group: *http://bit.ly/11FZhkM* <http://bit.ly/11FZhkM>

In case you are wondering why I'm opening up the development of Hydra in
the form of a W3C community group, the reason is that there was some
interest from W3C to standardize Hydra. A W3C community group just ensures
that unnecessary IPR problems are avoided in cases this becomes reality.

I know this mailing list is the wrong place to discuss these things, so
please let's not discuss it here. I just wanted to bring it to your
attention :-)

Cheers,
Markus
