Agreed. We need different versions. Learning different ways to install gives more chances to learn other tools. Honestly, I hadn't never used MacPorts before Leopard. Various manuals made me think I want to learn more about MacPorts, Apache settings, PHP settings and so on.
I found Ruby on Rails easier to set up. I only run `rails myApp`. Then, I point my browser to 0.0.0.0:3000. Symfony requires a little bit more than Rails. Of course, deploying is another matter, but if a newbie boy like me wants to learn web app on a local Mac, symfony may need a few options for beginners. Installation needs to be well- explained so that people can quickly dive into the fun part of symfony.
