A question on your changes. Why have you replaced all the hyphens (-) with en dashes (--)? I think this is grammatically incorrect for most of the cases where it has been done. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyphen#Compound_modifiers and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/En_dash#En_dash. I am pretty sure it should be square-free and pseudo-quotient, not square--free and pseudo--quotient.
