Thanks for the comments. Right, so with y == 0 we cannot solve the given equation x**y = 0. For y assumed nonzero, we could expect the simpler solution {x: 0}.

What if you change your code for the evaluation of Pow(b, e) to:

elif b.is_zero and e.is_finite:
    return S.Zero

Do you still get failures then?
