FYI, when you have questions about whether two expressions are equal you
might try test_numerically from randtest and the equals method:
test_numerically(0**(1/y),0)
True
(0**(1/y)).equals(0)
False
Here, the fact that they give two different answers suggests that there may
be a set of assumptions that are required for the equality to be true.
