A nice example where it doesn't distribute, but after copy and pasting the same thing, it does:

In [40]: print 1/(sqrt(2)*(x + y))
sqrt(2)/(2*(x + y))

In [41]: print sqrt(2)/(2*(x + y))
sqrt(2)/(2*x + 2*y)
