I thought it was limited to only matching. Checking again I find, at least in the C++ bindings, also a Replace() operation. It's a bit more limited than boost::Xpressive (cannot provide a callback for the replace, only supports \0-9 in the replacement string). One point in favor of pcre is UTF-8 support.
