"The Software Freedom Conservancy is a not-for-profit organization that helps promote, improve, develop, and defend Free, Libre, and Open Source Software (FLOSS) projects. Conservancy provides a non-profit home and infrastructure for FLOSS projects. This allows FLOSS developers to focus on what they do best — writing and improving FLOSS for the general public — while Conservancy takes care of the projects' needs that do not relate directly to software development and documentation." Would SFC be helpful to Synfig? Instead of creating a foundation ourselves that do all economics, donations etc. SFC can do all these with Synfig under it's wings. They can also be a head organisation owning domain names, trademarks etc. (All optional). Lifting the responsibility of these things from the shoulders of individuals. Several large projects is already in their organisation like, Amarok, Inkscape, Git, Samba, Wine etc. which I think gives credit to them as very serious and stable. Applications is considered twice a year. We just missed the feb 1. deadline. Next one is sept. 1st. I think a membership will lift a burden from (some more than others) developers and give stability to Synfig. What do you think? -David ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization & Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ Synfig-devl mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/synfig-devl
