Hi,

Check: http://www.nbl.fi/~nbl97/solaris/perf/index.html
SDR uses a number of recorders written in Perl and sar itself to collect
and record performance metrics from your servers. All data is stored
on disk, very simple and easy. 3GB per year per server for all recorders at
this time, there will be improvements later on. SDR uses SMF such way
each recorder is monitored and restarted in case of failure by the SMF.

It is a very simple way of recording and storing data having access to all raw
data.
Almost each collector stores data in a format easy to be updated into RRD or
Graphite.
True, I havent experiment with Graphite.

Hope it helps,
Stefan
