I'm working somewhere where we have plenty (hundreds of instances of each) of the three major Unixes as well as increasing amounts of Linux (probably hundreds of instances too either now or soon).

We use the native installers - JET, NIM, Ignite, Kickstart or what have you. We have at least one tool which supposedly will do cross- platform deployment, but using the native ones is just easier, because they actually work.

I'm not sure what the Windows people do, though as it looks like we'll shortly have a large number of Windows instances on VMs it will be interesting to see.
