It can work - but it's risky.  Apple's last firmware upgrade bricked iPhones 
that had been unlocked.

If you're a really bleeding-edge guy who insists on using T-Mobile with the 
phone and can take the risks of it stopping working... go for it.

If you want reliability, get a different phone, or use AT&T.

I have some concerns about the iPhone, as cool as it is (the biggest being 
the difficulty in putting a new battery in it - it isn't user-changeable, 
without performing surgery), but many who have one really like it.

I think I'd rather have something like a Nokia E70, but that's just me.  :)
