If you have unlimited messaging and have the data plan with messaging you're
on the wrong data plan. There are 3 data options for those on family plans.
Two 24.99 options, one with and one without the 400 messaging along with a
34.99 option for unlimited data. If you have the family unlimited messaging
you need the 24.99 without messaging to avoid a conflict between the
messaging and data options. I think its unfair to charge the same price for
the data package if you don't need the 400 messages but there it is. Even
without 3G the G1 is a good phone and a good upgrade from the sidekick. The
G1 is a smartphone and has a lot of apps available, unlike the SK.

If you order the phone you should have it within 10 days, plenty of time for
xmas.

I was going to get my grandson the G1 in spite of the G3 network not being
in our state. When I went to upgrade I was surprised to see an addtional $18
charge plus tax and now the phone is over $210 and I'm not even sure I will
get it in time for Christmas. Now I'm having second thoughs as I will have
to extend my contract for 2 years. I'm also confused on that 400 message
limitation as we are on the unlimited family plan. So I would like to know
if anyone has a recommendation for a similiar type unlocked phone that a
teen would really like that would use Edge. He now has the Sidekick ID but
is it so slow. Thanks! DonnaB
