What does "last minute" even mean? There is no deadline for anything here.
If you feel like you want to switch carriers before the merger completes,
just do it. If you want to wait and see what happens and perhaps switch at a
later point, do that. Neither approach is right or wrong or provides you
with any perceptible advantage. I for myself will sit it out and pretend
nothing will change for the worse. And if it does, I'm outta here. That's my
approach. But I see no reason to panic or rush anything or even to having to
do any research until my contract expires.

No time to panick BUT you will want to have your research done, do not wait
till the last minute. BTW, If you haven't checked it yet, AT&T is the worse
cell phone carrier. Their prices are not cheap so why pay high prices for
poor service? Do your homework everyone.

getting talk because it may raise anti-competitive concerns. The combined
company would be the number one carrier in the USA and between AT&T-T-Mo and
Verizon, those two carriers would account for about 75% of all cell phone
users (according to an article in today's Boston Globe). So you can expect
prolonged hearings on this before it is allowed to go through.

changes until mid to late next year (read: Summer of 2012 or later). So no
reason to panic or immediately shop for another carrier.
