Secondly is there some way to create a "kickstart cd" which would
automatically do all the install
steps? We are looking at building an appliance where the configuration
and installation
would always be the same. So once we did one installation we would
like to then be able to use
that as a template to create a CD that was a load an go to
automatically replicate the initial installation.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas.
You can define your whole own install procedure. For example the archivista
target (livecd) has an own installer, with custom (and pre-defined)
partitioning
and allows to boot into the "installer" by specifing "install" in the kernel
arguments during boot.
The default installer has no "auto-install mode" (patches welcome), but for
a custom appliance solution companies so far always coded their own custom
ideas, anyway.
Yours,
PS: If you seek for commercial support or development help you can also
contact e.g. ExactCODE to create a solution matching your spec.
