Hi all,
I'm trying out T2 for the first time, it sounds great. I went through
the entire
manual procedure for "Linux From Scratch" once, so I think I can
appreciate...
Now the web site warned that downloading the "Desktop" target could require
as much as 2 GB... I don't remember seeing such a target (I did "svn co"
of the 7.0
branch), I picked "Generic System" or something, I guess. Now it's been
downloading
for a day or two, and I've gone past the 4 (four) GB mark !! When will
it stop ?
I feel like I'm downloading all of the 30000 revisions and 3100 packages
that you
boast of...
There really should be a smaller target to begin with... right now it's
downloading
Flight Gear (!), this is ridiculous :-(
Ok, assuming I let it finish : should I backup up this source tree, or
write it to a DVD ?
I mean, will the compilation process apply any changes inside this
directory tree,
or will it keep it untouched ?
Obviously, I expect to go through a lot of trial and error, and restart
the configure/build
process many times, and I do NOT want to download any source package again.
So, should I back them up, or is it safe to proceed ?
Thanks,
Joao
