I have / had the same problem on all my machines with non-ide-cdrom already for t2_8.0. My solution was: Copy the iso-content to a SD-Card/USB-Stick and connect it too. After booting (from cdrom) you will lost the cdrom, but you see the USB-Stick and pick the 2nd_stage* from there.
