I have always found Linda's "left-threaded" and "right-threaded" the easiest to remember. In my copy of TTW, I have a little sticky-note that translates Peter's definition of S & Z to Linda's left/right. When I first read Staudigel, I didn't realize that his definition described the angle of the cards while Peter's describes the path of the thread, and I was really very confused. It was Linda, while she was staying with us & teaching a workshop at our local fiber school, who lit the lightbulb over my head about the Staudigel definition. A common, universally accepted definition would be wonderful, but I doubt we'll ever get there.
