I solved the variable tensioning needed with a foot loop; sort of modeled a bit on the cossack looking gentleman in TTW with his knee loop, but with the "loom" on a bench or table.

I did some tablet weaving on a floor loom, but it turned out *not* to be a good idea. I found that to turn the tablets and clear the sheds, I needed to change the tension (loose for turning, tight for clearing the shed). That was easy with a backstrap, and not too difficult with a pair of fixed posts and a bungy cord for tension, but the floor loom did not have enough elasticity to give me the variable tension I found I needed. I ended up using a fairly high tension and having difficulty turning the pack---I never finished the project. I was working with an inelastic cotton yarn---results might be quite different with a more elastic wool yarn.
