I just finished a band on a table loom. I warped the yarn directly to the warp beam. I really liked that my tension was even throughout, and I could warp enough for multiple bands, but I had to make sure that the pattern was balanced and wouldn't create any twist since there was no way I could think of to remove it.

All my pieces are narrow but I know people who weave very wide pieces with great success. The key here is a thin dowel that is inserted into one hole of all cards. It serves two purposes:
(1) it holds all cards in place while the weft is inserted. And,
(2) it is used to turn all cards. Yes, at the same time. In the next step,
it is inserted into the other hole. I believe two dowels are actually used.
Probably four if two packs of cards are used.
I do *ALL* my tablet weaving on a floor loom because it is the most comfortable way to sit and weave. No matter how long the warp is, I never use the back beam. I tie the warp up, typically into several bundles, at least 2, more likely 5 or 6, and hang weights onto each bundle. The weights vary with the size of the bundle. This works well for me. It gives me the elasticity that I need and I can selectively untwist what has twisted up too much.
