Bicycle is a vehicle (in OSM transportation mode hierarchy at least) An other way to explain Martin point is by saying that oneway key is an alias of vehicle:backward|forward oneway=yes -> vehicle:backward=no oneway=-1 -> vehicle:forward=no
oneway=yes -> vehicle:backward=no oneway:bicycle=no -> bicycle:backward=yes Why not, I’m ok with that, for me oneway:foot is easier to read and understand (that’s why it’s more used I guess). At the end it’s just a matter of definition. So to answer the question, I don’t think there is a good and deep reason to recommend foot:backward|forward over oneway:foot. Regards.
