I haven't been in the area recently but my understanding was that "Adventure Way" was a tourist gimmick/promotion, not an official road name. "Matilda Way" is another such tourist promotion and I think there are others including a "dinosaur" route. I have never seen these names used or written in any official documents - only in tourist brochures. I note that you have tagged the particular section of road as "alt_name=Adventure Way" which is probably the best strategy unless someone else can provide a more authoritative answer.
In the past, where there has been confusing or conflicting information, I have asked the locals if possible. Local residents are usually happy to clarify information. I have also contacted shire council offices - sometimes helpful, sometimes not. Happy travels!
