Hi OSM'ers

Back in the Jurassic (2019) I worked with AARNet to establish an Australian
OSM tile cache.

AARNet have reached out to let me know they need to decommission the
hardware in late October this year.

As far as I can see, this is Australia's only publicly listed tile cache:

If anyone wants to take up advocacy for a replacement with AARnet and / or
other infrastructure providers - please do so.

I've responded to AARnet to say thanks - and also open a channel for a
replacement service. I think there's still a strong argument for publicly
funded infrastructure.

I also think hosting a whole lot of OSM mirror services would be a tiny
drop in the bucket for some of our large organisations who extract
significant benefit from OSM and have local hardware / data centres. If you
have contacts with them, it is a good time to start a conversation. If they
already exist, great!

Regards

Adam
