Hi OSM Australia, We have recently had to retire two tile.openstreetmap.org render servers which were very generously provided by AARNet for the past five years. The OSM Operations Team would like to extend our sincere thanks to AARNet for their invaluable support during this period. Unfortunately, the tile.openstreetmap.org service will now be slower to access from Australia, New Zealand, and parts of South-East Asia. The service is now backed by render servers in the USA, which are kindly provided by OSUOSL.org and AWS. If anyone in the Australian or New Zealand education and research communities can help us (the OSM Operations Team) develop a strong justification for hosting this or other similar OpenStreetMap core services in Australia, we would greatly appreciate your assistance.
