I think it's important to stress (several times across the documentation) that there is no rush. If it takes 10 years to do it right, so be it. It's not a problem that the data isn't in there by next year. What we should aim for is people who survey and who then use the data as a complement to what they saw in the field (and ideally made pictures of).
