So i posted my note to all 45 mappers in Canada who has a wiki page. Hopefully everyone will see it, when they log on.I now need to dive into OSM and find major contributors who dont have a wiki page.
Using http://www.itoworld.com/static/osmmapper Im going to pan around across canada, and see what areas have been updated, and how fast it grew. .. I will be creating a chart "What todo with current data" this way, it can be clear on who is ok with having duplicates over there area. If we can have the majority of mappers sign on the chart... that would help. (I think) I still think that it's a 2 part process. .. 1 the initial import, and 2 importing and 'syncing' with current data. Im sure that it is technically possible, and we do have the knowhow to make it happen. .. Getting this information from users directly would help, ... on 1 of the users notes they suggest this "replace with AND data and move existing data to a .osm for manual integration" .. so actually exporting the current area as an OSM file. ... then deleting it from OSM database, then importing the 'CanVec/GeoBase/GeoGratis data'. .. then manually merging it back. (keeping a working copy as a backup) .... so its essentially a reverse tracing? I can host OSM files on my site.. as anyone else can have a copy of the osm bbox. How's that idea?? Cheers, Sam Vekemans Across Canada Trails
