The tags don't matter; attribution is in the *© OpenStreetMap
Contributors* link. Aren't we supposed to remove the NRCan tags if we
modify data on the ground, or add in our own additional data?
From a legal perspective, any tag can be removed at any time. This
doesn't mean they *should* be removed. The question you want to ask is,
what is more helpful to other mappers? If you've changed enough to make
it misleading to say "This is NRCan data", you should change the source tag.
I always remove the attribution tag, as it duplicates the information in
the source tag. There's other tags left-over from the import that I
normally removed after a minimal inspection, because they're generally
wrong, misleading, or useless.
