I was the thread's originator.

I haven't rechecked all their changesets, but from memory they didn't add any restrictions, just split roads, apparently at random points. Thanks for the reminder that I need to go a reconnect them.

Did they ever come back with a satisfactory explanation for their source?

As OS seem to scent £££, this may be an opportunity for us to help out...

Some easily gettable wiki guidance on mapping height and width restrictions for the UK and maybe a quarterly project in the future sounds possible.

Maybe the transport consultancies on our lists could make useful contacts (buses run into bridges when they go off regular routes all the time).
