Hi, > One resource I've actually found useful, is the schools list here > http://www.education.ie/en/Publications/Statistics/Data-on-Individual-Schools/Data-on-Individual-Schools.html
Schools names and naming conventions are practically a language of their own. Many schools have large variations in the various versions of their English language names and then have Irish language names also. the names on the Department of Education site may be the 'official' name, but that isn't necessarily the name it is commonly known as. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comprehensive_school#Ireland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocational_school#Ireland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_school_%28Ireland%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voluntary_secondary_school http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_school_%28Ireland%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educate_Together http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaelscoil > As an aside, I'm not sure where Electoral Divisions sit. On townlands.ie I've > been putting them between CP and townland ( as you > can see here > http://www.townlands.ie/galway/ballynahinch/ballindoon/derrylea-electoral-division/ardagh/ > ). I'm open to better solutions. Electoral divisions (previously known as "district electoral divisions") are somewhat independent and were the building blocks for rural district councils. While they will often be made up of a number of townlands, in urban areas they are much smaller than townlands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_electoral_division You can see detailed maps of EDs on ArcGIS here: http://airo.maynoothuniversity.ie/external-content/census-2011-national-mapping-viewer Colm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead _______________________________________________ Talk-ie mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie
