When did wards stop? Had a look at index to Dublin City Minutes.
in 1953 there was "division of added area" into wards perhaps?

in 1954 "wards, scheme of"
and also 1954 "Wards, Local Government Order re"

No mention since then except for Valuations in Rathmines wards. So seems
they stopped in 1954

Will look up minutes when next in DCLA Pearse Street, may be two weeks.

Meanwhile perhaps we should enter city wards that most clearly fit the
white space in the townlands overlay. It seems some from 1838 and some from
1849, to avoid overlap where possible and label them

Trinity Ward 1838 etc

These are already all on OSM but we need to do copies that would be tagged
so the overlay and townlands.ie pick them up effortlessly

Perhaps it is Donal and Rory who should say how they would like them tagged?

They can all be viewed at http://hollinshead.net/maps/dublincitywards/

For Merrion Ward see relation 5595994 for tagging

Hopefully they are all? tagged the same, no guarantee yet I'm afraid.
