OpenStreetMap License Change Phase 3 begins this Sunday. The full announcement is copied below and there is full information at the "Find out more about OpenStreetMap's upcoming license change" link on http://wiki.openstreetmap.org or directly at http://www.osmfoundation.org/wiki/License/We_Are_Changing_The_License

If anyone feels a Swedish translation would be useful and can do it, I would be most grateful.

In summary: This only affects you if you are an OpenStreetMap contributor who registered before 12th May 2010 and have not taken part in our voluntary re-licensing program. Before being able to edit, you will have accept or decline new contributor terms.

According to http://odbl.de/ 50% to 72% of data in Sweden is fully licensable under ODbL. Obviously this must increase before a license switch can occur. Looking at mailings on this list, I note some concerns well summarised by Lars about data from previous contributors. Gothenburg was specifically mentioned. We will be sending email to all such persons in batches after the initial rush from active contributors. If after a months time anyone has any concerns about a particular area or particular user, please talk about it on this list or send email to me personally.

The Full Announcment
------------------------------------

Phase 3 of the License Change process begins this Sunday, 17th April.

If you were a contributor who registered before 12th May 2010 and have not accepted yet, you will be asked to accept or decline new contributor terms. You can find background information about this on the main wiki page [2]. If you use an off-line editor like JOSM, you will need to go to http://www.openstreetmap.org and log in in the top right corner before you can continue editing. Even if you choose to decline the new terms, you will still be able to continue editing.

If you are a contributor who registered on or after 12th May 2010 or who has taken part in our voluntary re-licensing program, this does not affect you.

If you are a user of OpenStreetMap data, this does not affect you. OpenStreetMap data continues to be licensed only under CC-BY-SA and this will continue until we reach a critical mass of acceptance of the new license.

You can see up-to-date OpenStreetMap ODbL acceptance by region at any time by going to http://odbl.de <http://odbl.de/> . See "world" for the global picture.

As part of the process, the legal wording of the Contributor Terms has been improved [3] on the basis of community feedback received and to make them more friendly to individual contributors. The human-readable version of the Contributor Terms is unchanged [4].
