As far as I can tell the sketch-line ignores the
highway=platform/role=platform ways. I think Bonola renders because
it's a stop and a platform in the reverse direction relation:

Ouch... you're right, that's why I added the
public_transport=stop_position with the stop role, sketch-line wouldn't
render the platform alone. It's been quite a while since...
Here we're getting into one of the uglier parts of transport mapping -
large terminals (amenity=bus_station) with multiple stop positions and
platforms. I deliberately left that out of the proposal I presented (my
plan is to present that as a later extension).
