But think about it. The little old lady and the puppy owner could go to one
of the millions of animal shelters all over the country and adopt a new
fluffy friend. These could either be ten times as annoyhing as their
previous incarnations, or they could become the new baby of the family.
Either way, the shelters win.
Sorry, I'm just so sick of shelter ads pleading with people to adopt pets.
Either people need to learn to neuter their pets or they need to come out
with animal contraception. Something. Urgh!

PS and yes, I speak from personal experience. My friend in high school was
heavily involved with the shelters, and her family always had at least 12
pets. When I first met her there were 16 dogs living at her house. Let's
just say sleepovers were not nice.

No purpose? Well the cost of purchasing one is a bit prohibitive, yes, but

Yeah, we don't want any more Dexters. Having the one around here is bad
enough. I wonder if Mom would let me sell his tissues to ViaGen Inc. but,
I guess that would be too much to ask,
since that company probably does something useful, like genetically
engineering livestock to produce more milk, or chew more cud or
something. Dexter would be of no use there, even in molecular form.
